Why do I see nightmares?

1- A problem with the bedroom itself. In another section on this website, we covered in detail how there are inhabitants of houses from Jinn. Jinn could be good or evil. We need to clear this room of pictures, photos, and statues. Music and certain TV shows attract Shaitan to the room, so we may need to adjust lifestyle patterns. We advise patients to listen to Quran throughout the night at a very low volume, and not go to bed exposed or naked. Cover your body with bed covers during sleep. Recite Surat Al-Baqarah in full for 3 consecutive nights in the bedroom and then once every 3 nights. Spray the entire room with Ruqiah water. Cover your body with Ruqiah Olive oil before sleeping. We covered in other sections how to do this in detail.

2- Nightmares could mean that this person specifically is targeted by Shaitan. In this case, the patient is asked to recite Morning, Evening, and Going to Bed Athkar consistently and in full. It is very important to listen to Ruqiah daily and listen to Quran especially the Cow chapter while pondering on the meaning of the verses.

3- Do not kill the messenger. What this means is that your nightmare could just be a window through which you see if Evil Magic or Evil Eye is targeting you. Then your problem is not with the nightmare, it is rather with what the nightmare is reflecting. Other sections of this website cover in detail how to treat Evil Eye and Evil Magic.

The Trap of TIME

Shaitan will let not us protect ourselves during our sleep. It uses a trick that never fails, the trap of time. It will always whisper to you that Athkar take too long and you do not have time, you have to sleep now because you are tired and you have to get up early.  But, How about spending 30 minutes preparing for quality sleep and gaining rewards from Allah? Some people keep tossing and turning in bed for 2 or 3 hours because they can’t sleep or because when they sleep, they see nightmares or feel that they are falling off a cliff, getting choked in their sleep, etc. Would not make sense to spend the extra 30 minutes?

Athkar is our weapon against Shaitan. But Athkar provides (timed protection). Watch for time gaps in your Athkar recitations. Meaning that Evening Athkar will protect you till Fajr time. This is why some Sheitan and Jinn attacks happen after Fajr. To protect yourself, you need to get up before or at Fajr time to say the Athkar and then sleep again if you need to. Yet, if you still do not get up for Athkar, then recite them when you get up.

How can I shield myself before bedtime?

Bedtime is the most vulnerable time for inflicted patients because during sleep we have little to no control. Patients experience dreams of being assaulted, falling off a cliff, being bitten by a snake, etc. The most relaxing time can become the most disturbing time.

1- The first line of defense is going to bed in a state of Wudua. Most people underestimate the tremendous power of Wudua in overcoming Jinn and Sheitan. Some people are cured just by being in constant Wudua. Make Wudua before going to bed even if you lose it quickly in bed, by passing gas for example, because you still went to bed in the state of Wudua.

Prophet Muhammed said, “Whenever you go to bed, perform Wudu’ as you would for salah (prayer); and then lie down on your right side and recite: [Allah, I have submitted myself to You. I have turned my face to You, entrusted my affairs to You and I lean my back on You, out of desire for and fear of You (expecting Your reward and fearing Your punishment). There is no refuge or safe haven from You except by seeking You. I affirm my faith in Your Book which You have revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You have sent]. ‘ If you die in this night, you will die in the state of genuine faith. Let these words be your last words at night.” Authentic in the book of Bukhari and Muslim. ‘Allahumma aslamtu nafsi ilaika, wa fawwadtu amri ilaika, wal-ja’tu zahri ilaika, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilaika, la malja’a wa la manja minka illa ilaika, amantu bikitabik-alladhi anzalta, wa binabiyyik-alladhi arsalt’

2- It is narrated in an authentic hadith that when prophet Muhammed would go to bed, He would put both his hands together and recite 3 verses of the Quran: 1- Surat Al-Ikhlas (Qul hua Allah Ahad) 2- Surat Al-Falaq (Qul aaouz birab elnas) 3- Surat Al-Nas (Qul aaouz birab elfalaq), then he would (yanfuth) blow air in his hand from his mouth, accompanied by minor droplets of saliva. Then, He wipes his head, face, and as much as he can of the front of his body. He repeats this 3 times, and each time, He recites all 3 verses. On his deathbed, when he could not do that, he asked his wife, Aisha, to do that for him. She did these recitations for him on his deathbed, using his own hands as she said that his hands are more blessed.

3- Recite Ayat Al-Korsi (the verse of the throne in the Cow chapter) and the last 2 verses of the Cow Chapter “Surah Al-Baqarah” every night but In the case of Mas (being targeted by Sheitan) Recite them at a minimum of 7 times.

When you recite Ayat Al-Korsi (the verse of the throne) in surah Al-Baqarah you will be protected by Allah till the moment you wake up. If you get up to use the bathroom, for example, you will have to re-recite Ayat Al-Korsi again.

4- Prophet Muhammed Said, “However recite the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah, they would suffice him.” Authentic in the book of Muslim.

5- Prophet Mohammed said, “Whoever gets to a place and then says (I seek refuge in the wholeness of Allah’s words from the evil of what he created), nothing would harm him until he leaves this place.” Authentic, Book of Muslim أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق

Note: The Hadith states that nothing will harm him. It does not mean that nothing bad will happen. Bad things could happen but it won’t harm him. For example, a manager could fire an employee. It is a bad thing for the employee but it will not harm him. Maybe this employee will find an easier and better-paying job shortly.

6- Abdullah bin Khubaib reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me, “Recite Qul Huwa Allah Ahad (Surat Al-Ikhlas) and Al-Mu’awwithatain (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) 3 times at dawn and dusk. It will suffice you in all respects.” [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

7- Abu Hurayra said that the Messenger of Allah used to say when he went to bed: “Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, the lord of the great throne, our Lord and the lord of everything, Splitter of the grain and seeds, the One who sent down the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur’an. I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything that You seize by the forehead. Allah, You are the First, nothing is before you, You are the Last, nothing is after You. You are the highest, nothing is above You and You are the nearest, and nothing is nearer than You. Relief our debt and eliminate our poverty.” Authentic

Allāhumma Rabbas-samāwātis-sab`i wa Rabba ‘l-`Arshi ‘l-`Aẓīm, Rabbanā wa Rabba kulli shay’, fāliqa ‘l-ḥabbi wan-nawā, wa munzilat-Tawrāti wal-‘Injīli, wal-Furqān, a`ūdhu bika min sharri kulli shay’in anta ākhidhun bināṣiyatih. Allāhumma anta ‘l-awwalu falaysa qablaka shay’, wa antal-ākhiru falaysa ba`daka shay’, wa antaẓ-ẓāhiru falaysa fawqaka shay’, wa antal-bāṭinu falaysa dūnaka shay’, iqḍi `annad-dayn, wa aghninā mina ‘l-faqr.

8- Prophet Muhammed said, “Recite chapter Al-Kafirun and then sleep at its end, for it is a denouncement of polytheism (associating partners of worship with Allah).” Authentic, Sunan Abi Dawud

9- Prophet Muhammed said: “Whoever says, I seek refuge in the name of Allah. With whose name no harm could occur in the heavens or the earth” 3 times, no harm will occur to him/her”

‘Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma’as-mihi shai’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i, wa Huwas-Sami’ul-‘Alim بسم الله الذي لا يضر مع اسمه شيء في الأرض ولا في السماء وهو السميع العليم

10- Prophet Muhammed said, One night the devils gathered from everywhere, and one of them had a torch of light to burn the face of the Prophet. Angel Jibril descended down and told him Say this Muhammed: “I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah, which neither the upright nor the corrupt may overcome – from the evil of what He created, of what He made, and of what He scattered, from the evil of what descends from the heavens, and of what rises up to them, from the evil of what He scattered in the earth, and of what emerges from it, from the evil trials of night and day, and the evil of every knocker, except for a knocker who brings good. You are my merciful lord.” Prophet Muhammed continues: “The fire of the devils was put off and Almighty Allah defeated them.”

Transliteration: A`ūdhu bikalimāti ‘llāhit-tāmmāti ‘llatī lā yujāwizuhunna barrun wa lā fājirun min sharri mā khalaq, wa bara’a wa dhara’, wa min sharri mā yanzilu minas-samā’, wa min sharri mā ya`ruju fīhā, wa min sharri mā dhara’a fi ‘l-arḍ, wa min sharri ma yakhruju minhā, wa min sharri fitani ‘llayli wannahār, wa min sharri kulli ṭāriqin illā ṭāriqan yaṭruqu bikhayr yā Rahmān.”

I have trouble during my sleep. Why am I not protected?

Prophet Mohammed stated in an authentic Hadith “When you go to bed, use your undershirt to dust off your bed because you do not know what occupied your bed after you. Then say: “In the name of Allah, I lay down on my side, and in His name, I get up. If you (God), hold my soul (as in death), then have mercy on my soul, and if you (God) release my soul then guard it as you guard your righteous slaves.” This Hadith teaches us that we do not know if something or someone evil is on the bed. So while you are not present, Sheitan may have left something invisible to trouble you in your sleep on your bed.

How to overcome insomnia?

A man complained to the Prophet (ﷺ) saying: ‘Messenger of Allah, I do not sleep at night due to Insomnia.’ So Allah’s Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘When you go to your bed, say:  “Allah, Lord of the Seven Heavens and what they have shaded, Lord of the earths and what they carry, Lord of the Shayatin and those who they have misguided, be for me a Protector against the evil of Your creation, all of them together so that none of them should transgress against me, or oppress me, mighty is the one who seeks protection in You, and glorified is Your praise, and there is none worthy of worship other than You, and there is none worthy of worship except You.”

(Allāhumma rabbas-samāwātis-sab`i wa mā aẓallat, wa rabbal-arḍīna wa mā aqallat, wa rabbash-shayāṭīni wa mā aḍallat, kun lī jāran min sharri khalqika kullihim jamī`an an yafruṭa `alayya aḥadun minhum, aw an yabghiya `alayya, `azza jāruka wa jalla thanā’uka, wa lā ilāha ghairuka wa lā ilāha illā anta).”

Bed Covers

Fleece bed sheets and covers and even Poylster pillows can trigger nightmares and sleep disorders for patients inflicted with Spiritual Disorders. Synthetic fleece bed covers transfer electrons and unbalanced charges. While we do not know why, patients report much more nightmares while being covered with fleece blankets.

Unrelated to Shaitan Insomnia

Listen to Quran recitation because Quran soothes the soul and eases the mind in general. Drink sleeping aid herbal tea blends that contain Chamomile. Consider taking over-the-counter, flush-free Niacin capsules 500 mg (B3 vitamins). Niacin capsules are affordable. They naturally reduce stress hormones safely and have no side effects with long-term use.

Nightmares?

A man came to Prophet Muhammed complaining of Horrible Nightmares in his sleep. Prophet Muhammed told him when you go to sleep say: I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from His wrath and His punishment, from the evil of His slaves, and the whispers of the devils and their presence.”

Transliteration: “A`ūdhu bikalimāti ‘llāhit-tāmmāti min ghaḍabihi wa `iqābihi wa sharri `ibādih, wa min hamazātish-shayāṭīni wa an yaḥḍurūn.”

What if my dream is a warning from Allah?

Dreams are a double-sided sword. They could cure you or destroy you. If they are from Allah “Rouayah” they would be in the form of glad news and good tidings. They could also be a warning. Typically, when you have a Rouaya (true dream from Allah) It is before Fajr time. Prophet Muhammed said: “The most truthful of dreams are during dawn time.”

Prophet Muhammed said: “Dreams are of three types: Glad tidings from Allah, what is on a person’s mind, and frightening dreams from Satan. If any of you sees a dream that he likes, let him tell others of it if he wishes, but if he sees something that he dislikes, he should not tell anyone about it, and he should get up and perform prayer.” Authentic

You could see the cure for your spiritual disorder. Some people after reciting the Quran daily and suppressing their sinful desires, see dreams through which they know who struck them Ayn, where Sihr is hidden, and how to treat themselves. However, Shaitan can take over someone’s dreams so they keep seeing evil nightmares. So many couples divorced because of dreams of betrayal and adultery. Some man claims that he knows that his wife is betraying him just because of repeated dreams that felt so real. This is the way Shaitan targets us. For Shaitan to control someone, it has to separate them from their loved ones. That makes this person an easier prey. The repetition of these nightmares should not make you believe that they are real.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “A good dream is from Allah, and a bad or evil dream is from Satan; so if anyone of you has a bad dream of which he gets afraid, he should spit on his left side and should seek Refuge with Allah from its evil, for then it will not harm him.”

What if my dream is a true future evil event?

Then override and overwrite your dream.

Prophet Muhammed said “Nothing could override destiny except for Duaa (supplication)”

It was narrated from Thawban that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Nothing increases one’s life span except for righteousness and nothing overrides destiny except for Duaa (supplication), and a man could be deprived of provision because a sin that he commits.’”

What should I do and say when I see a nightmare?

Prophet Muhammed said: “A good dream is from Allah, an evil nightmare is from Sheitan. If you see something you do not like in your sleep, Spit 3 times on your left side (without saliva or with very few droplets) and say “I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the evil what I have seen.” Do not share this nightmare with anyone. But if you see what you like, then get your hopes up and share it only with who you love.”

Satanic Harm Renewal through dreams of being fed

Some people who are targeted by Shaitan will see in their dreams that they are being fed food, whether nasty or regular food, eaten or shoveled down their throat. This is a sign of Shaitan renewing its commitment to harming this person. In other words, It means that the magic is renewed by Jinn or by the magician. There are so many complicated programs to void this renewal of magic.

However, the easiest way is to follow the advice of Prophet Muhammed to spit thrice on your left side and say I seek refuge in Allah against the evil I have seen. If you already forgot to do that then when you get up take senna tablets with Ruqiah water and drink Ruqia water and honey to void the effect of Sihr Renewal. Additionally, surprisingly enough, patients have some control over their actions in their dreams, so decline to eat in your dreams. The majority of magic renewal nightmares occur after Fajr time, so it is better to avoid sleeping after Fajr or dawn time. There are other cases when Sihr is renewed by means of seeing an animal biting, licking, or rubbing the patient in his sleep.

I still get attacked in my sleep

Since you are losing sleep anyway, do not stay in bed and let Jinn keep attacking you despite reciting Quran. Stop!! Get up, make Wudua, and pray to Rakeas (units of Muslim prayers) in your bedroom. Then go to sleep. Will this work? No, sheitan will attack again to make you desperately feel that nightly prayers do not work. So they might attack you again.

So what should I do now?

Get up again and pray to Rakeas again. Be calm and smile before and after praying. Get up with energy and content. Make sure you keep praising and thanking Allah in your prayers. When you go back to bed. Be on standby mode ready to get up and pray again if you experience even a mild or minor attack from the Shaytan. All you need to do is to leave a nightlight one and know where the clothes you wear in your prayers are. More than likely you will keep losing Wudua because of constant gas and bloating in your stomach. This bloating is from Shaitan to make you always lose your state of Wudua so you become an easy target. So make Wudua again.

How many times a night and for how many nights should I do Qyam?

Do it for as long as you have attacks even if you spend all night every night. What is expected to happen after that? Jinn will leave and then you will stop the nightly prayers. After many many nights shaitan Will come again. You will forget to do the nightly prayers during attacks. But if you remember, you will not be attacked again. But will I get up a little tired? Maybe you will get up a little tired but can perform normally throughout the day. The duration of your sleep is not the only or main factor of quality of sleep.

Am I rewarded for Qyam?

Yes heavily InshaAllah more than you could ever imagine. Allah knows that Shaitan is telling you that either Quran doesn’t work or Allah gave up on you. It is a hard trail from Allah. But you are clinging and holding on to your faith.

These nightly prayers are more difficult on Shaitan than you could ever think. These prayers are confusing for Shaitan. If the Shaitan attacks again, it will experience more torture but if it doesn’t attack again, you will recognize that this works. Anyway, the Shaitan may try more than likely a few more times but it will fear your consistency and contentment. Praying 2 Rakea at night is not just for insomnia. It is also to help overcome attacks in the form of stinging, itchiness, pinching, suffocation, sexual thoughts, feeling like falling off a cliff, etc.

How to gauge your power level?

If you get up feeling lazy to pray the 2 Rakea, or you get up but still sit in bed telling yourself that you can’t do this because you are too tired, this means your spirit is weak and you are about to lose the fight. If you get up with contentment and energy to pray, this indicates that your spirit is strong and resilient.

Why do I see The Future in my dreams?

It is not a sign of being good or bad. Muslims and non-Muslims, Righteous and wrongdoers see dreams of future events that occur and happen exactly as they have seen them. Allah says in the Quran that no one could know the future except for Allah and however, Allah permits.

So why do we see future events in our dreams? Here we are not talking about predictions and expectations but rather things that you never knew or planned for. For example, seeing in a dream your childhood friend whom you have never seen for the past 20 years wearing a blue shirt and black pants buying bread and yogurt in the store. In my opinion, Allah lets you see the future in advance. There is no scientific explanation for how you know this piece of the future. You could not have requested or planned to know the unexpected future. So, a higher authority has let know the unknown. When this higher authority tells you about the future events of the day of judgment, heavens, and hellfire, then you should believe it despite the absence of materialistic and scientific proof that they will happen.
