How can I make Ruqiah more effective?
1- Your medical doctor must clear you first of any physical or psychiatric disease so you do not misdiagnose your disease for Shaitan. When the Sheitan targets someone, the therapy is completely different from being healthy and just getting shielded against Shaitan. The therapy must be from the Quran and Sunnah. If the therapy contradicts Quran or Sunnah, the patient will not be cured and his faith could get voided, which makes the patient easy prey for the shaitan.
2- Learn how to do the Ruqyah for yourself, rather than by a Raqi. Allah is the one who cures us, not the Ruqyah or Raqi. The patient has a compelling necessity. This compelling necessity humbly attaches the patient’s heart to its creator and grants him the answer of Allah to his prayers.
Allah said in the Quran: “Who answers a distressed soul that calls on its lord and who alleviates harm.”
Relying only on the Raqi is like hiring a private trainer in the gym. He could guide you to how to exercise but at the end of the day, it is you who have to do the work. Can the gym trainer, you hired, do all the exercises while you are sitting there watching and then expect yourself to be healthier? Same with Ruqyah. Being too attached to a Raqi, weakens your attachment to Allah, the sole provider of healing.
3- Do not postpone your treatment program. Some people could suffer through the harm of the Shaitan for 10 or 20 years or even longer while others get rid of it in a few days. The longer you have the harm of Jinn and Shaitan, the longer it could take to be cured. Sheitan is weaker than a committed believer.
4- Seek to understand the meaning of Athkar and verses of the Quran that you listen to accelerate your healing. Understanding the meaning makes your heart and mind stronger and much more resistant.
5- Renew your reliance on Allah. Quran and Athkar are the ultimate solution for everything evil regardless of what type of satanic harm you may have or for how long you had it. No one, even a Raqi, can cure you except by the wish of Allah. The cure is not from Ruqyah. The cure is from Allah alone. The piety of the Raqi is a major factor in determining the success of the Ruqyah. Ruqiah protects against problems you are currently encountering and problems you have not encountered yet. Humble yourself to Allah. Scholars explain that ignoring therapy is a disobedience to Allah but relying only on therapy alone is a type of associating partners to the One God.
6- The cure is not just in increasing acts of obedience to Allah, it is also in stopping acts of disobedience. It is not just what you do, It is also what you stop doing. Somebody might follow the treatment program but still do back biting, receive accrued interest from the bank, wear tight or revealing clothes, listen to music, watch porn, etc. Scholars say “Do not rush healing after you have blocked its path with sins”
Yet, do not blame your wrongdoings and sins on Shaitan. Shaitan can whisper in your ear but Allah has created you with an override mode that makes you only in full control.
7- You could get worse before you get better. Once you start the treatment program, Sihr and Mas patients feel the resistance and fightback of the Jinn. They fight back because the Ruqia is effective and working. Do not stop your scheduled recitations and Athkar. Sheitan goes dormant to give you the feeling that you are cured and then patients experience a setback which makes them eventually get frustrated and give up.
You will eventually experience a big improvement inshallah as if you are healed but do not stop your Ruqiah because Jinn will come back stronger. Jinn will build shields against the types of Ruqia you use so that these Ruqiah’s become less effective. patients are always advised to use a strong, long, first strike and to continue all the way even after they think they are cured.
8- It is effective for the Raqi to put his hand on the forehead, face, chest, or pain areas of the patient while reciting the Ruqiah. It is recommended for the patient to be sitting on a cushiony, stable seat with their feet extended and uncrossed to facilitate the departure of Jinn. It is also conducive in some cases to recite Quran in the patient’s left ear. However, it is forbidden for a male Raqi to do any of this to a female patient no matter how severe her condition could be (the only exception is if the Raqi is Mahram for her like being her father, son, husband, or brother).
9- Adhere to the etiquettes of Ruqiah. The first thing is to set your intention to seek a cure from Allah. Make sure that you are not interrupted during the Ruqyah. Dedicate the time and prepare yourself for the recitations. Do not eat before Ruqiah, turn off your cell phone, and coordinate with your spouse for quiet time. Use the bathroom first, make Wudua get your cup of coffee and bottle of water, and get ready to start. Face the direction of Qiblah, clean your surroundings, and remove photos and pictures of any creation that has a soul like animals, birds, and humans.
10- Repetition is the key. An example to help illustrate is if you have to finish a task in the dark. You turn on the lamp. You will only be able to see and finish your task, for as long as the lamp is on. The fact that the lamp was on and you were able to see yesterday, does not mean you will be able to see tonight without the lamp. When you do repetitions of the Quran and Athkar, use a timer and a counter. If someone is asked to recite Surat Al-Falaq a hundred times, he will feel it is too much. If he is asked to recite it for 20 minutes, he will feel that it is an easier task. Treatment repetition of recitations has to be fast. Use odd numbers of repetitions.
11- If you want to enhance the efficacy of your recitations, recite Quran while praying 2 Rakea’s (unit of prayers) to Allah, at night, anytime after Isha prayer. It is permissible to hold the Quran, or Quran app on your cell phone while praying (but not during your 5 obligatory daily prayers) if you need to, due to lack of memorization or need for translation.
- Does reciting Quran while praying Salah mean I can’t do Ruqiah on water or olive oil?
You still can do Ruqiah on water or olive oil by doing Nafth (spitting air accompanied by droplets of saliva) 3 times into the water or oil immediately after you finish the Salah prayers and before speaking to anyone.
12- “If you can’t attain it all, do not forfeit it all.” If your voice is tired of repetitions, then alternate reciting and listening to recitations. It is okay to listen to Ruqiah while driving as long as this is not a new Ruqiah for you and you know it will make you sleepy or tired.
13- In some cases, improvement is gradual. You weaken the Jinn by Ruqyah before getting them out. You could feel worse after Ruqyah. It is not uncommon. Ruqyah disturbs the Sheitan and burns them enough to make them consider leaving your body. However, know that they will fight back as hard as they can before they leave because they are stubborn by nature. You experience severe reactions from Shaitan because the Ruqiah is working. Stay strong and stay the course. Do not ever give up the Ruqiah. There could be a physical residue of the harm of Jinn left inside the body. This residue leaves the body through sweat, vomit, diarrhea, vaginal flatulence, and most importantly, Hijama.
14- Our adversaries (Shaitan or Jinn) are not the same, depending on the type of Sheitan you struggle with, you may respond to certain Ruqia’s and treatment protocols differently than someone else. So what works for others may not work for you and vice versa.
15- Ruqiah should be long whether for diagnosis or treatment purposes. If the Raqi feels his voice is tired. He should consider using a microphone that is plugged into a speaker (sold on Amazon as a set). This way, he does not have to raise his voice much and will be able to carry on a long Ruqiah.
16- Set your intention before Recitations and Athkar. In Islam, intentions are set internally only by your heart. However, in the case of Spiritual Therapy, we recommend setting your intention loudly and clearly like saying “Allah, I intend this Ruqiah to be a thorough cure for me and everything that is related to me. Allah, accept my Ruqiah and make it severe punishment for every trespassing evil spirit that inhibited my body and mind.”
17- Shaitan is described by Allah and his prophet as “Khannas” meaning that it contracts, shrinks, and gets weaker. So when it is in a state of “Khans”, this does not mean that it is gone, it could still be there but dormant. It could be the size of a full man or shrink itself down to be in the toes. Sometimes when Shaitan enters the body, it shrinks to the size of a needle which makes patients feel an extraordinary piercing sensation.
18- Listen to Ruqiah and Quran in general throughout the day to accelerate your treatment but there must be a dedicated time for doing nothing but reciting Quran and Athkar.
19- Sit or lay down during Ruqiah with your legs and arms uncrossed. This makes it easier for Jinn to depart the body as their movement out of the body becomes unrestricted. Let your feet rest on the heel area.
20- Ruqiah’s are powerful and effective. However, sometimes patients do not feel a response from the Jinn (internal pulse, movement, or pain). This means typically one of two things:
1- The type of Jinn inside the body is too strong or stubborn. So, More repetition is required to be effective.
2- The Jinn has been in the body for too long. Jinn does not sit idle in the body. It keeps constantly building knots everywhere in the body. The knots are like castles that they run to hide from Ruqyah. However, the Repetition of Surat Al-Falaq destroys their knots as well.
Mistakes patients with Spiritual Disorders make
1- Lack of consistency with Ruqyah and Athkar. The treatment program is a package. We should not pick and choose. Do not say, for example, I recited Surat Al-Baqarah so I will skip the Evening Athkar. Suppose you live in a house that has 2 doors and 8 windows. Do not just lock one door and a few windows. The intruder will come through the other door and windows. Lock them all.
Yet doing some Athkar is better than doing nothing at all. Here are examples from Sheikh Khalid Al-Hibshi, to help us understand.
The Sheikh replied to a woman’s question about why we have to do a lot of work to get rid of Shaitan? He asked the woman, How do you clean cooking pots at home? She said I use a wet sponge and detergent. He asked her if you have an old cooking pot that was 10 years old and there is a black deposit on the outside bottom of the cooking pot, would you clean it the same way? She said, No. I would use in this case a steel wool scrubber and vinegar. He asked her, how hard would you scrub? She said I would press hard repeatedly while scrubbing to wipe the gunk out. He said spiritual disorders are the same way, just saying I seek refuge in Allah and reading some Quran is good for day-to-day protection. If you want to remove an old infliction of Shaitan, there is a different process that you need to apply.
The same Sheikh was asked by a guy, “What if I do not have time? The Sheikh replied if an intruder walks into your house, and you kick the intruder once in the morning and then go to work, and then you kick him again when you come back from work. Do you think this intruder will leave? The guy replied, “No. If someone breaks into my house, I will fight him hard.” The Sheikh asked, even if it takes all day. The guy replied yes of course. The Sheikh said, treat the intruder in your body the same way. Make this intruder think twice before breaking again into your body.
2- when patients feel that the Ruqyah is triggering an adverse reaction, they stop or take a break. This is a major mistake. If you feel choked, pain, headache, or whatever else, that is because Sheitan is being tortured and is about to leave. If you take a break, your work becomes less effective. Continue to listen or recite even if you vomit, get shivers, or feel pain. Yet some patients will not experience anything but they will notice the next day that the Sheitan is finally gone. Some people claim that the right thing to do is to have mercy on the Sheitan by stopping for a break… Wrong. Mercy is only for humans (of any religion, faith, or race) and for animals but never for Shaitan.
3- Passive listening is not as effective. Ponder over the meanings of the Ruqyah and be in a state of Wudua. Ruqiah has two benefits, 1-Pushing the Shaitan away. 2- Make your heart stronger and resilient. If one does not attempt to understand the meaning or at least the theme of what he is listening to, he gets only some of the benefits.
4- Patients rush the results. Patients who say “I am tired, I have been struggling for so long, etc.” The cure is only in the hands of Allah, not the therapist. It is wrong for both Raqi and the patient to specify a time frame after which the patient will be cured. You do what is required and wait. There is no time frame despite all the claims.
5- Shaitan will whisper to you: “Your faith is weak. Who are you to do Ruqiah? Have you forgotten the sins you have done and the sins you still do? You are the last person in this world to supplicate to Allah. You can’t do Ruqiah because you are sinful, your heart is not focused and you are not ready. Your Ruqiah will never be accepted. You are just wasting your time” [sic]
Learn how to snap out of this quickly. You are sinful, yet inshallah Allah will accept your prayers despite your sins and your distracted heart and mind provided that you ask Him sincerely for forgiveness.
Prophet Muhammed said, “I swear by the One in whose hand my soul is, if you were not to commit sins, Allah would have replaced you with people who commit sins, so they ask Allah for forgiveness and He forgives them.” Authentic in the Book of Muslim
6- Stay calm and do not be panicky. Prophet Muhammed said “Any good I have; I will not hold from you. Whoever seeks grace, Allah will make him gracious. Whoever seeks patience, Allah will make him patient. Whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will make him self-sufficient, and you could never be granted anything better or more satisfying than patience.” Authentic in Bukhari 6470.
You may hear weird voices or sounds, see unusual things, etc. Learn to ignore all of these abnormalities with confidence. Jinn are experimental in the way they harm their targets, so if they find the patient can handle through prayers a certain type of harm and live a semi-normal life, then they switch to different harm and so on until they eventually give up and leave. If they find the patient anxious, they get amused and escalate the harm. A scared person is a weak person. Shaitan will never have mercy on a weak person.
7- If someone has an active infliction, they should not treat others by Ruqiah. Having an active infliction makes it easy and inviting for Jinn to avenge themselves at this person giving Ruqiah. However, it is okay to do Ruqiah to others against illness or Ayn, etc, as long as there is no Jinn involved with the person you are giving Ruqiah to. After you are treated, you can treat others.
8- During Ruqiah the patient could lie down on the floor, kick, scream, and moan. When female patients are not properly dressed, this affects the piety of the Raqi regardless of his age. So, money and time are wasted. It is better to wear dark wide long dress with loose pants underneath and socks. Do not apply perfumes, creams, lotions, or anything else, especially if they are scented. Females should always bring a companion with them along to the Ruqiah.
9- Do not raise your voice too much during Ruiqah and recitations. The efficacy of Ruqiah can be dependent on its length and repetition. Always recite from the tip of your tongue not from the bottom of your stomach. Raising your voice makes you feel exhausted quickly and your Ruqiah becomes short.
10- The Raqi is the sum of the experiences of his patients. It is of politeness and courtesy to call your Raqi back to report changes in your condition including successes and failures. Do not disappear on your Raqi without leaving feedback on your outcome. Raqi’s learn from you as much as you learn from them.
11- Shaitan will make you hate your Raqi. You may even hate his voice and face. Not just that but you may also hate any book or website that teaches you how to treat yourself. This feeling is from Shaitan to distance you from the path of survival.
12- It is wrong for females to stop the recitations, Athkar, and the treatment program during the menstrual cycle. Carry on with your scheduled treatment but do not perform Salah or touch the physical book of Quran.
13- Do not make any major decisions like divorce, quitting your job, selling your business, etc. until you are fully treated. Your perception of what is tolerable and intolerable is comprehended to a degree at this time.
14- If you find a good honest therapist, do not be stingy with the cost of your treatment. Shaitan will prompt to save money on treatment fees while wasting money on less important matters.
